With just one event left the 2009-2010 racquetball season comes to a close. Be sure to mark June 19 – 20th on your calendar for Nebraska’s Cornhusker State Games held in Lincoln.
This was the 2nd season that the NSRA used the ‘One Day Shoot Out’ format and the 2nd year that it was a hit! There were 98 players who participated in one or more of the 5 sanctioned one day events. The largest event with 40 players was held on Jan. 9, 2010 at Prairie Life Fitness (West) in Lincoln. The Lincoln Racquet Club shootout on Sept. 13, 2009 and the Prairie Life Fitness Omaha shootout on Nov. 14, 2009 both had 39 players.
These events are intended to encourage players to try the tournament venue without having to commit to an entire weekend of play. It is also designed for the ‘hardcore’ players to play many matches in one day. The cost is more than justified as players receive a t’shirt at their first event as well as drinks, lunch and awards at all events. In all the NSRA offered 10 sanctioned tournaments over 8 months, again adding value to the annual USAR/NSRA dues. We appreciate all the players who play in the events and keep racquetball going strong in Nebraska!
